CPR Update
 

The American Heart Association has developed new guidelines for CPR and Automated External Defibrillators.  Our instructors can bring you up to date with the new guidelines.

Here is a brief overview of some of the changes:
 

ADULT CPR

 

Establish Unresponsiveness

 

Call 911

Begin your initial assessment

ABC's

 

A=Airway

Open the airway

               

 

Look, Listen & Feel for normal breathing.

               

 

B=Breathing

If the patient is not breathing, give 2 breaths. 

If the breath does not make the chest  rise, reposition the head and attempt to give another breath.


        

 

C=Circulation

Begin chest compressions.

  

 

You will give 30 compressions for every 2 breaths.

 

Continue this sequence until:

        an AED arrives, the victim begins to move or breathe on their own, EMS professionals arrive, you are too exhausted to continue.
